Nurture your child in nature and not in the city

Jan 15, 2017 / Admin

When kids are outdoors in natural surroundings, their play is less structured comparedwith indoor play because there are infinite ways to interact with nature, from the backyard to the park to the local hiking trail or lake. This enables your child to choose how he treats nature such that he has the power to control his own actions. Here at STPS, we believe that the abundance of nature plays a huge role in the development of a child. Here are some points explaining why nature is a better teacher.

1. Nature promotes creativity and imagination. The unstructured and free style of play allows kids to interact meaningfully with their surroundings. They can think more freely, design their own activities, and approach the world in inventive ways, which helps them cope better.

2. Nature may seem lesser stimulating and more calming than violent video games; however, it activates most of their senses as they interact with nature – seeing, hearing, smelling, feeling, and touching all that is around. As the young in cities spend less and less of their lives in natural surroundings, their senses narrow, and this reduces the richness of human experience.

3. Nature is the best teacher, creating a unique sense of wonder for kids that no other environment can provide. The phenomena that occur naturally in backyards and parks everyday make kids ask questions about the earth and the life that it supports.

4. Interaction with nature reduces stress and fatigue. In natural environments, we practice effortless attention known as soft fascination that creates feelings of pleasure, not fatigue.

These are some major reasons why a child should be brought up around nature. The qualities of nature imprint onto the child at a young age, providing a holistic upbringing. At STPS, we stress on outdoor playing and interaction better and achieve more.
